2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
This program is for skilled trade workers who have experience in manual or technical occupations.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in a skilled trade within the last 5 years.
- Job Offer or Certification:
- A valid full-time job offer from a Canadian employer for at least 1 year, OR
- A certificate of qualification from a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.
- Language Ability: Minimum CLB 5 in speaking & listening, CLB 4 in reading & writing.
- Education: No minimum requirement, but education can improve CRS score.
- Proof of Funds: Required unless already working in Canada.

Eligible Skilled Trades: (As per NOC TEER 2 & 3)
- Industrial, electrical, and construction trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers, welders).
- Maintenance and equipment operation trades.

- Processing, manufacturing, and utilities supervisors and operators.
Best For:
- Skilled trade workers who may not qualify under FSWP due to education.
- Those with a valid job offer or trade certification in Canada.
2. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
This program is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Work Experience: At least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada (full-time or equivalent part-time) within the last 3 years.
- Job Type: Work must be in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations under the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
- Language Ability:
- CLB 7 for TEER 0 & 1 jobs.
- CLB 5 for TEER 2 & 3 jobs.
- Education: Not required, but higher education can improve CRS score.
- Proof of Funds: Not required.
